Welcome to my personal website, designed to give an insight into the history of this, once small, Northamptonshire village.
Stanwick has suffered from extensive residential growth in recent years with a significant amount of in-migration. Since 1991, the population of Stanwick has increased by about 35%, from 1481 to an estimated 2000 in 2007, making it now the largest village in East Northamptonshire. We are aware that we are in great danger of losing our identity as the boundaries of our village edge ever closer to our neighbouring Town of Raunds.
Since 1997, I have been researching the history of Stanwick, and compiling a collection of old photographs and postcards, at the same time recording the memories and anecdotes of the older residents who remember the village as it once was.
Having lived in Stanwick since 1951, I am determined that these personal memories of life in this small Northamptonshire village should not be lost. If you have any old photographs or documents to add to my collection, or memories you would like to share with me, I would love to hear from you.
